IGNITE THE FIRE Part 8: “Eternal Perspective”

Main Reading: 2 Cor. 4:16-5:10;

Central Truth: God wants His people to live with an eternal perspective. (Mt. 6:19, 27; Col. 3:2; Mt. 16:26; Eccl. 7:2; Ps. 39:5; Jas. 4:14)

 

What is eternal? 

1.  GodHimself.  Ps. 90:2 

2.  God’s word.  Isa. 40:7

3.  People’s spirit.  Jn. 3:16 

4.  Godly character 1 Tim. 4:8 5.  Christ-centered ministry.  Jn. 6:27

 

Living with an eternal perspective involves:

1.  Focusing more on the inwardthan the outward.  v. 16 (Lu. 12:15)

 

 

2.  Growing through hardshipsv. 17 (2 Cor. 1:3-8)

 

 

3.  Looking more to the unseenthan the seen.  v. 18

 

 

4.   Longing for heavenmore than earth.  5:1-2, 4-5, 8

 

 

5.  Living with the final judgementin mind.  5:1-10 (Hebr. 9:27)

 

 

3 Results:

1.  Be sure you are saved. 

2.  Be sure you are living fully for Christ.

 

3.  Be involved in helping others follow Christ.
